Statement following decision on deconsecration
Development of Calderstones Cemetery and Crematorium – Honouring the Past and Protecting the Future
The crematorium will be built to the very highest environmental standards and the grounds maintained to encourage local flora and fauna. Quality and care are at the heart of what we do and our sensitive approach allows families to have a truly meaningful goodbye.
We also care about the heritage of Calderstones Cemetery and will be providing a memorial to those already buried in the there, as well as individual memorials for the Booth Hall Babies together with interpretative signage and an electronic Book of Remembrance. Truly honouring the past and protecting the future.
To support the bereaved we provide complimentary hot beverages to those attending funerals and will be offering one hour service times, with extra time available if required, redefining what it means to have a truly personal goodbye.
The areas in which the building is to be constructed and roads installed have never been used for burials. All statutory burial records have been transcribed and plotted onto a map, a ground penetrating radar survey has been carried out and construction plans developed to ensure there will be no disturbance to existing graves.
